Who Remembers This?
This fantastic photograph was loaned to Ouseburn Heritage by Alf Brown (pictured right) who was born in 1926 at 6 Ouseburn Road. Ouseburn Heritage is looking for help in dating the photograph. The Ousburn Heritage newsletter issue 2 states: – The chimney on Lime Street is shown at its full height and writing (Alard’s Mill?) is visible on the roof of 36 Lime St. The view is obviously pre-war. The New Bridge Street Goods Station can be seen in the distance and Appletons Buildings at the back of Ouseburn Road are bottom right. We think that the Lime Street chimney was reduced in height in 1939 or 1940: can anyone confirm this.?
